Richard Meier built white towers around Russell Pancoast's 1930 Surf Club, and the spa keeps the same restraint — sauna, steam and hammam off a tea lounge facing the Atlantic. Smaller than Carillon's operation and gated behind a spa booking, but the setting does the work. Surfside is residential and calm, which is either the point or the problem depending on why you came to Miami.
